At Pennywell Early Years Centre, we believe that children learn best through real, hands-on experiences. That’s why a big part of our curriculum is all about exploring the world around us – starting with our own local community and reaching out to the wider world beyond.
🔍As part of our school value ‘We Are Researchers’, we encourage children to be curious, ask questions, and make meaningful connections. Whether we’re visiting the local shops, exploring the nearby park, or feeling the sand between our toes at the beach, we use these first-hand experiences to spark wonder, learning, and excitement.
🏘️We want our children to grow up with a deep love and respect for their community. By getting out and about in the local area, they begin to understand the people and places that make up their world. These adventures help children develop confidence, social skills, and a strong sense of belonging – all while having fun and making memories.
🏖️To make sure all trips and visits are well planned and safe, our Lead Teacher Nicole Hunt acts as our Evolve Leader. She oversees the planning and risk assessments of all off-site experiences to ensure they are appropriate, enjoyable, and safely managed for every child.
🌳Whether it’s a walk to the post office, a trip to the park, or a visit to the coast, we use our surroundings to bring learning to life and inspire children to be active, engaged learners.
